The
marriage of pastors is a tremendous burden on our hearts and we have
sought to encourage and provide opportunities for strengthening
marriages through exhortation, cards, couple retreats and Raven’s
Rest. It is expensive to send a pastor couple away for a few days
alone together, although it is greatly needed by all. We have
only been able to provide time away for a handful of couples each year,
which has been a source of grief for us. Our desire is that all
pastors can “get away” frequently to fortify their relationship with
the Lord and each other. YHWH granted our heart’s desire in
2009. Through an inheritance from Dad & Mom La Gatta, we were
able to purchase and restore a beautiful little “cottage” set in a
natural and relaxing environment. We are making it available to
pastors and families free of charge. They can use it whenever
they like. Pastors can also take their leadership teams or staff
there for a short retreat for a minimal charge. The fee is to
offset utilities and property taxes so it can continue to be available
for pastor couples at no charge. The reports we’ve heard from
those who have taken advantage of Cherith House have been beyond our
expectations: “it helped our marriage,” “we have a different staff
now,” “we felt welcome from the moment we entered,” “it was the perfect
place to relax.”
For 2010 -
Please pray with us that pastors will take advantage of the opportunity
and that overhead costs will be provided through the use by Churches
and/or donations.
